tutorial

Dataframer.com provides you with various data sets with which you can make the graph that you desire. There is no need to upload files, all of it happens on our site. The site works best on desktop.

  1. You first have to select the dataset(s) from which you would like to use data to make a chart.
  2. Then, you must select the data type(s) you wish to display.
  3. After clicking the 'generate' button, the graph will appear in the canvas box below.
  4. You can download your graph by right clicking the chart and selecting 'save image as'.
If you are not happy with your chart, you can reconfigure the chart options and generate it again.

Pick countries here while holding down control on Windows or command on MacOs:

Please choose your time range here. The range has to be from at least 1960 to at most 2020, otherwise the graph won't be generated. If you don't want to use a range, because you want to make a pie chart for example, please enter the preferred year once in each box.

Make sure to read the below in order to generate your chart successfully (you could also see some examples):

- Line: Takes one dataset variable, a year range and as many countries as you like. Best used for comparing one parameter between different countries.
- Bar: Can take multiple dataset variables, a year range and one country. Best used for comparing different parameters respective to one country.
- Pie & Doughnut: Takes one dataset variable, a one-year time range and as many countries as you like. Best used for comparing one parameter between different countries in one particular year.
- Radar: Can take multiple dataset variables, a one-year time range and as many countries as you like. Best used for comparing multiple parameters between different countries for one year.
- Scatter: Takes two dataset variables, a year range and as many countries as you like. Best to display correlations.
- Bubble: Takes three dataset variables, a year range and as many countries as you like. Use at your own risk...
If still nothing shows up in your chart, this will be because of incomplete datasets. Please try looking for similar pictures with different parameters.

examples

Here are some examples of graphs you can make with dataframer:

bar chart
A bar chart of GDP per capita and energy use per capita over the years in the world.
As is necessary for a bar chart to work, one country is chosen along with a time range and at least one variable.
bar chart
A radar chart displaying various variable values for Argentina and Colombia in 2010.
As is necessary for a radar chart to work, only one year is chosen along with at least one variable and country.
bar chart
A bubble chart relating GDP and health expenditure per capita with population as size indicator.
As is necessary for a bubble chart to work, three variables are chosen along with at least one country and a year range.
